Robert D. Widdifield, age 84 of St. Peter, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.
Born on August 5, 1935 in Becker County, Minnesota to Walter and Laurel Widdifield. He graduated from Nevis High School and Grand Rapids Technical College. He married Donna Zeller on March 2, 1957 in Park Rapids, MN. After getting married they moved to Newport/St. Paul Park area where he worked as a DHIA (Dairy Herd Improvement Association) Tester. In 1961 they moved to Nicollet and then in 1965 moved to Norseland where together they raised 2 daughters and 1 son. He continued as a DHIA tester for 41 years, retiring in 1997. He also worked with Carl Johnson for their business the Norseland Window & Siding Company. After retirement Robert was a driver for Winnebago driving campers all over the United States, Canada & Alaska for 20 years. His last trip was done in February to Arizona.
During their married life of 63 years they enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Canada, Alaska, were campground hosts there for 5 summers and also a trip to Germany & England.
He was a member of the Scandian Grove Lutheran Church. He was involved with church council, bowling teams, Ninety-Nine, Couples Club and Camping Club.
He is survived by his wife, Donna, daughter Vicki (Dave) Hermanson, son David Widdifield, daughter Jodee (Robert) Hanson, 6 grandchildren, Michelle, Allan, Jason, Tyler, Jessica, Morgan, 7 great grandchildren, Zachary, Ryan, Ryker, Lyara, Arya, Andre, Flynn. He is survived by 3 sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 grandsons, Micah & Michael.
There will be a private family service and burial at Scandian Grove Lutheran Church.
