Shirley J. Lincoln-Milligan, age 100, of St. Peter, mother of Sue Schott, died Saturday, December 7, 2024, surrounded by her family.
A Service of Remembrance will be at 2:00 p.m., December 28, 2024, at the St. Peter Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at St. Peter Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Benedictine Court, St. Peter, for improvements to the outdoor sitting areas.
Shirley was born January 5, 1924, to El Nathan P. and Eva M. (Yockey) Hunt in Sioux City, Iowa. She was baptized at Whitfield Methodist Church in Sioux City, IA.
Shirley was united in marriage to Robert M. Lincoln on October 30, 1942, at Whitfield Methodist Church. Robert died on October 9, 1985.
She later married Clyde E. Milligan on June 10, 1992, at Littleton Methodist Church, Littleton, CO. He died on May 4, 2014.
Shirley was a wife, mother, and homemaker. She cherished her family and always made time for people in her community. Her community extended as she traveled the world. She loved learning through these experiences and collected memories in the form of furniture and giraffes that she proudly displayed in her home.
Shirley was a member of P.E.O. Chapter BS in Littleton and P.E.O. Chapter CN in St. Peter. She was passionate about volunteering and exercise. She brought these passions together as a member of the care team at her church in Littleton and at Benedictine in St. Peter. Those she encountered share memories of Shirley’s ability to connect and leave each person better than she found them.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Sue (Lee) Schott of Gaylord, MN; daughter-in-law, Candice Lincoln of Camp Verde, AZ; five grandchildren, Marty Schott (Tracy Koberg) of Nicollet, Steph (Rich) Johnson of Fairmont, Spencer Schott of Gaylord, Heather Schott (Erin Sheriff) of West Des Moines, IA, Matt (Christina) Lincoln of Glendale, AZ; three stepchildren, Dr. Doug (Karen) Milligan of Lexington, KY, Brian (Amy) Milligan of Morrison, CO, and Karen (Jeff) Steinrock of Hardinsburg, IN; eleven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; ten step-grandchildren; four step-great grandchild; sister, Barbara Davis of Spirit Lake, IA; many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Robert and Clyde; two sons, R. Michael Lincoln and Stephen M. Lincoln; two sisters, Betty Jane Winter and Phyllis Mattison; four brothers, Nate Hunt, Bill Hunt, Bruce Hunt, and Robert Hunt.
